Minnesota Workplace Alliance
"Championing the business case for inclusion is a core piece of Quorum's mission, and it's simple ... to develop cohesive, effective, productive teams, people must bring their whole selves to work. Leadership develops in environments that demand authenticity. We simply cannot ask any person to leave one layer of their identity at home when they go to work, whether it's their ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, level of ability, faith or socio-economic status. This array of perspectives is an incredibly valuable asset. It reflects the people that businesses serve. If businesses want to understand their audience, they should start by making sure all the people are at the table."
- Sam McClure, former Executive Director of Quorum
The Minnesota Workplace Alliance addresses workplace culture and GLBT inclusion policies by organizing a network of GLBT Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to connect and share ideas, best practices, challenges, resources and information on creating and maintaining fair, affirming equality-minded workplaces.
Important 2010 Minnesota Workplace Alliance programming includes the annual Minnesota National Coming Out Day Luncheon and Quorum Business Equality Conference.
Quorum's goals for the Alliance are to create opportunities to:
- Share resources, information and best practices that support goals for advancing inclusion in the workplace.
- Enhance individual careers and leadership potential through education, training and networking.
- Connect with Quorum's broader membership in order to foster relationships with other businesses that are owned and operated by GLBT and Allied people to create a more fully inclusive economy.
- Enhance individual careers and leadership potential through education, training and networking.
